- Als universitäre Forschungseinrichtung besteht die Haupttätigkeit der Forschungsstelle Japan in Erforschung und Publizierung neuer Erkenntnisse der Politik, Gesellschaft, Kultur, und Wirtschaft Japans. Die derzeitigen Forschungsschwerpunkte sind die Entwicklungen des japanischen Parteiensystems, gesellschaftliche Ungleichheitsstrukturen ebenso wie soziale und politische Transformationsprozesse durch Globalisierung und Post-Modernisierung. Zu diesen Themen werden Diplom- und Magisterarbeiten sowie Dissertationen betreut. Eine Kooperation mit der ortsansässigen Deutsch-Japanischen Gesellschaft sowie der Volkshochschule erlaubt es, ein thematisch breit gefächertes Angebot an Vorträgen zu Japan der Öffentlichkeit zugänglich zu machen. Gastdozenten mit Seminarangeboten sowie Sprachkurse der Volkshochschule und des akademischen Auslandsamts runden das Angebot für Studierende an der Universität Osnabrück ab.
- As a university research institution, the Japan Research Center’s primary mission is to conduct research and publish new findings on Japanese politics, society, culture, and the economy. Current research focuses include developments in the Japanese party system, structures of social inequality, and social and political transformation processes driven by globalization and postmodernization. The center supervises bachelor’s and master’s theses as well as doctoral dissertations on these topics. A partnership with the local German-Japanese Society and the Adult Education Center allows us to offer the public a wide range of lectures on Japan. Guest lecturers offering seminars, as well as language courses at the Adult Education Center and the International Office, round out the offerings for students at Osnabrück University.
